About

Alanna Murphy, Professional Organizer/President and founder of APPA INC.

In 2002, I was a partner and the vice president of operations of a medium sized business in the field of transportation. After several successful years I decided to sell my share of the business and pursue a long-felt calling to work in a field where I would more directly help people.

Prior to owning this firm, I had worked at a CLSC and with the elderly as a nurse's aide and recalled the enormous satisfaction of working very closely and personally with people. In business I discovered and developed a talent in organizing. I decided that I would try to combine the two and in 2003 I became a Professional Organizer.

After a year of working with different clients and seeing the type of clientele I was drawn to, and who was drawn to me, I decided to specialize in working with clients who are chronically disorganized.

In 2004 I joined POC, Professional Organizers in Canada. I am a Silver Leaf member of POC (5 years or more in business and in good standing). I have held the positions of Vice Chair and past secretary of the local Montreal Chapter of Professional Organizers in Canada. I served on the executive for more than 5 years.

I have received training from and attended workshops given by psychologists and psychiatrists and have learned different approaches and methods enabling me to assist and better understand my clients.

My personal qualities that I believe enable me to help my clients are that I love to laugh and learn. I am very good at problem solving, an excellent listener and I have lots of patience and understanding.
